These are eight 2012 books that I either tried out with my babies (birth-24 months) or have added to my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/review\/list\/2451978-melissa?shelf=baby-storytime\" title=\"Mel's GoodReads Baby Storytime Shelf\" target=\"_blank\">baby storytime shelf on Goodreads<\/a> because they look so promising. In no particular order: <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/melissa.depperfamily.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/AllKindsofKisses.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/melissa.depperfamily.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/AllKindsofKisses.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"AllKindsofKisses\" width=\"200\" height=\"176\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4287\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>All Kinds of Kisses<\/strong> by Nancy Tafuri<br \/>\n<em>I use Nancy Tafuri&#8217;s books a lot in my storytimes, so I&#8217;m always happy to see a new one. This will go well in my Hugs &#038; Kisses storytime, but I have to admit I will skip the last page, which declares the best kiss to be a mom&#8217;s goodnight kiss. I will just clip a few sections when I use it.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/melissa.depperfamily.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Surprise.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/melissa.depperfamily.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Surprise-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Surprise\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4293\" srcset=\"http:\/\/melissa.depperfamily.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Surprise-300x300.jpg 300w, http:\/\/melissa.depperfamily.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Surprise-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/melissa.depperfamily.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Surprise.jpg 318w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Surprise!<\/strong> by Liesbet Slegers<br \/>\n<em>There&#8217;s a lot of board books I wish were bigger for a group, but the illustrations in this lift-the-flap are so simple, clear, and bright that I will just scoot closer to my babies to make this work!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/melissa.depperfamily.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Rokko.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/melissa.depperfamily.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Rokko-162x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Rokko\" width=\"162\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4292\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Rokko<\/strong> by Paola Opal<br \/>\n<em>This is one in an awesome new board book series. (Well, new to my library; it looks like they launched in 2010.) They are perfect very short first stories for young toddlers. The pictures are simple with bold outlines to help young eyes focus, and the stories are REAL stories, with a beginning, a middle &#038; a problem, and an end &#038; a resolution. AND the &#8220;child&#8221; animal in each book figures out the solution THEMSELVES. I am in love.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/melissa.depperfamily.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/MeeowBlueTable.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/melissa.depperfamily.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/MeeowBlueTable-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"MeeowBlueTable\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4291\" srcset=\"http:\/\/melissa.depperfamily.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/MeeowBlueTable-300x300.jpg 300w, http:\/\/melissa.depperfamily.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/MeeowBlueTable-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/melissa.depperfamily.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/MeeowBlueTable.jpg 318w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Meeow and the Blue Table<\/strong> by Sebastien Braun<br \/>\n<em>This is another new-to-me-series, good for the 1-year-olds in my group; all of the books gently model simple imaginative play scenarios: chairs turn into a train, pots &#038; pans turn into a marching band, and in this one, a table turns into a castle. Bold, bright pictures and familiar animals and lots of repetition make these satisfying titles for young listeners.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/melissa.depperfamily.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/LlamaLlamaZip.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/melissa.depperfamily.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/LlamaLlamaZip-289x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"LlamaLlamaZip\" width=\"289\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4290\" srcset=\"http:\/\/melissa.depperfamily.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/LlamaLlamaZip-289x300.jpg 289w, http:\/\/melissa.depperfamily.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/LlamaLlamaZip.jpg 318w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 289px) 100vw, 289px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Llama Llama board books<\/strong> by Anna Dewdney<br \/>\n<em>Dewdney has a gift for rhymes that scan well and are fun to read aloud. This is just one of four new Llama Llama board books, bouncy &#038; great for the younger ones in my crowd.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/melissa.depperfamily.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/FasterFaster.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/melissa.depperfamily.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/FasterFaster-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"FasterFaster\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4289\" srcset=\"http:\/\/melissa.depperfamily.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/FasterFaster-300x300.jpg 300w, http:\/\/melissa.depperfamily.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/FasterFaster-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/melissa.depperfamily.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/FasterFaster.jpg 318w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Faster! Faster!<\/strong> by Leslie Patricelli<br \/>\n<em>Another author I share all the time with my babies. <strong>Higher! Higher!<\/strong> was one of my favorite titles the year it came out, so I was thrilled to see this follow-up, which I like just as much.
