BONUS Flannel Friday: Storybox

OK you guys! I have another Flannel Friday this week for you, but it’s not mine! My colleague Julie sent me an email today, and first of all said THANKS to everyone for all the great Flannel Friday ideas, which she is starting to use for her own library.

She went on, “So since your group is so friendly and giving I wanted to give back. I don’t have a blog, but was hoping you might be able to share for me.” Julie got this idea from another colleague and put it into practice for her own storytime groups.

So here it is, a Storytime Storybox! Here’s a sneak preview:

Here’s her Word doc with detailed instructions and more photos.

Thank you Julie!

Great idea. This would work really well for outdoor storytimes where flannel pieces sometimes like to fly away. Speaking from recent experience 🙂

  2. Melissa says:

I didn’t even think of that, but you’re totally right!

This is a great idea! I’ll try it out with a little alteration. As I like the little ones to handle the pieces at the end, I don’t think I’d be happy with pegs (nipped fingers etc.), so I’ll try a felt covered box and sticky velcro dots towards the bottom of the laminated pieces. Thanks for sharing!

Nice idea! I wonder if you can still get the old-fashioned clothespins, the ones that don’t pinch but just have a slot in them?

  5. Maureen says:

I’ve done this but with a velcro strip across the box. I do like the clothespin idea as it would make the pieces easier to take off and on. I have bought the old style clothespin at the Dollar stores.
    Thanks for sharing your idea.

  6. This is cute. Thanks for sharing!
